Our Vintage Cider
Luxury Self Catering in Kingsbridge, combined with scrumptious apple juice and home-made cider from the heart of South Devon.
Using a wide range of old traditional West-Country apple varieties from ‘Pigs Nose’, ‘Pendragon’ and ‘Wellington’ to ‘Slack ma Girdle’ all from our own orchards, we make delicious pressed Apple Juice as well as special varieties of vintage Cider at Lower Grimpstonleigh.
Made with care and fermented slowly at low temperatures, our vintage Ciders are of outstanding quality.
Our ‘Special Reserve’ known as ‘The Grimpston Reaper’ is made from our hand pressed vintage cider and aged for at least a further year in old oak rum barrels. When finally racked off ‘The Reaper’ takes on the appearance of Madeira and has a unique smoothness in taste .This cider is of uncompromising character to be enjoyed and respected in equal measure.
We have introduced a new cider namely ‘Pigs Snout’ (www.pigsnoutcider.co.uk). A light pale golden yellow cider which should prove very popular in the summer evenings. This is produced using a variety of traditional apples in the traditional way – the way nature intended.
All Barn guests receive a complementary bottle of our Grimpstonleigh Apple juice and Vintage Cider as part of the welcome pack during their stay in one of our luxury self catering barns. There is also an honesty basket filled with more for you to enjoy.
